Pinea Design was founded by Marc and Debbie, partners in life and in craft. Together, they bring over forty years of experience to the gardens they shape.
Their shared vision is simple - to design and maintain gardens that are elegant, manageable, and full of life.

Marc Rice
Head of Operations
With more than twenty-five years of experience, Marc plays a central role in both managing operations and delivering the detailed work our gardens are known for. From coordinating the team to personally handling planting and meticulous clipping, his creative eye and high standards shape everything we do. Outside of work, he enjoys chasing waves along the Devon coast.
Debbie Boxall
Garden Designer & Project Manager
With over twenty years of experience, Debbie is the first point of contact for our clients, guiding projects from initial enquiry through to completion. She oversees project management and leads on planting design, combining structure with softness to create gardens that feel both considered and complete. When she’s not among the plants, you’ll often find her out on the trails.

With a keen eye for supervision (especially at snack time), they take their roles very seriously. Experts in morale-boosting tail wags and unannounced “inspection rounds,” they ensure every corner meets their high standards. Friendly, loyal, and always ready to greet visitors, they’re an essential part of the team - even if their productivity depends on treats.
